Step1
1. Work on your ATTITUDE.
Having a good attitude is the single most important key to success in anything. One of my favorite quotes is “Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it.” This is absolutely the truth! You have to think like a winner to be a winner.
Your attitude has PROFOUND effects on your environment.
Have you ever known anyone with a bad attitude? …Someone who constantly focuses on the ‘problems’ and poisons conversations with his or her negativity? Do you enjoy being around this person? Do people like this ever really go far in life?
Life is completely what you make of it. You create your own reality. So focus on the good things. Focus on adding value. Focus on creating success for yourself and that’s exactly what will happen.
Step2
2. BELIEVE in yourself and become your own biggest fan.
Others see you as you see yourself. When you believe in yourself and confidently express your unique “I” in the world, success is virtually guaranteed.
The people who do well in this world are major self-promoters. Think about the many ways that successful individuals brand themselves. Donald Trump’s brand is associated with luxury. Rachel Ray focuses on enjoying herself and savoring food while sharing her recipes (her LOVE) with the world.
When you believe in what you do and it’s a reflection of ‘who you are’ inside, you become a magnet to exciting opportunities… and that makes you successful – opportunity.
Step3
3. COMMIT to being the best at what you do.
The most successful among us do what others can’t or won’t do. They find that one trait about themselves, that intense passion burning within, and they do it with excellence.
There is only one Oprah Winfrey, or George Carlin, or Michael Jordan. These people EXCEL ‘at what they do’ and have a following because of it.
When you’re excellent at what you do, you become indispensable (until you stop doing it). Being the best breeds success… and a lot of the success comes while you’re aspiring for the number one spot. :-)
But you have to commit to it. You have to commit to yourself. That takes strength and determination.
Step4
4. SACRIFICE time, money, and instant gratification, but never sacrifice your self-respect.
In order to be successful, you have to make tough choices that will go against your desires in order to focus on your values.
All of the get-rich quick schemes out there do nothing to help you understand this simple fact.
You will have to work hard. (I know you hate to hear that… I hated it as well, until I realized that success comes to those who go out in the ring, every day, and work their tails off. ;-) )
You will have to spend your money.
You will have to decline invitations and avoid distractions.
You will have to sacrifice a lot of “free time”.
But the good news is that if you’re doing what you’re good at and what you love, it won’t feel like such a sacrifice. You will happily forego short-term gratification for long-tem gains. :-)
Step5
5. PERSEVERE: You gotta keep on keepin’ on.
Success comes to the last man (or woman) standing. Most people never become successful because they simply didn’t try hard enough. Whatever you do, you can’t give up.
It seems like it’s much easier to give up when you have bills due or when no one else believes in you… but that’s precisely the moment when you should buckle down and work harder.
If you give up, you surely fail… but if you keep on going, pushing yourself past your limits, you will ultimately taste success. It just works out that way. Remember that if you are being your best self and expressing your unique “I”, you have much better chances.
Best Wishes to You~
