From my step-by-step instructions you will learn how to feed a patient.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Napkin
  • Towel

Step1
Make sure the patient is in a sitting position.
Step2
Place napkin or towel over patient's chest.
Step3
Open all drinks and containers.
Step4
Season food with condiments.
Step5
Start feeding patient with small bits, one from each course.
Step6
Then, offer the patient something to drink after every second or third bite.
Step7
Continue feeding patient, alternating food and drinks.
Step8
After patient is done eating, leave patient in sitting position for about thirty minutes, so food can digest. Then return patient to lying position.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not lie patient down soon after eating, this can cause acid reflux.
