Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Update regularly. This is kind of a given, but you'd be surprised at how many blogs fail because of irregular updating. Especially if it's a business blog, you've got to keep the content fresh. If someone stumbles upon your blog and sees a link outdated by weeks, they may never come back. Offer something fresh--even if it doesn't really speak to that reader--and they're more likely to return.
Step2
Get a domain. While sites like LiveJournal.com provide an easy platform, a business blog needs a domain. It doesn't have to have its own URL, as it can be a link off your main website, but something professional goes a long way.
Step3
Promote your blog. Use sites like blogflux.com and submit your blog to directories. Submit them to a blog carnival where you can get your blog post noticed with similar topics. Comment on other blogs and promote your blog at every opportunity! You never know where a great lead will come from--your blog is also a sales tool that should be utilized!
Step4
Create pillar articles. While your content may ramble and get semi-personal from time to time, it's great to have at least five original articles that are your pillars. Link to them on the sidebar and market them to drive traffic to your blog.
