Things You'll Need:
- Drill
- Jigsaw
- Tin snips (metal Duct)
- SAFTEY GLASSES
-
Step 1
Identify if your fan has a 1 or 2 speed motor. Single speeds usually only have 1 black and 1 white wire and a green ground wire (some have 2 black wires) 2 speeds will usually have a red or blue wire as well as the wires from the single speed.
-
Step 2
You will need to connect your power wires from the power source. Connect the White Power Source wire to the white wire from the fan. (if there is no white wire look for a wire marked common or Neutral)
-
Step 3
Connect the black wire from the power source to the black wire from the motor. If your fan has a red or yellow wire connect them to the black power source wire (look for wires marked Line or Hot)
-
Step 4
Green ground wires need to be connected to the ground wire from the power source
-
Step 5
Depending on the type of duct you have cutting will vary. (flexible or metal) If metal Cut the required opening by first drilling a pilot hole and cutting along the dashed line using a jig saw or tin snips.
If Flexible Simply cut the duct. -
Step 6
Insert the Duct fan (make sure Airflow is in correct Direction!!)
Metal Duct: insert the Inline Duct fan into the hole you cut. Insert crimped ends of fan duct into main duct. Most inline duct fans have several screws to hold it in place
Flexible Duct: Slip Flexible duct over crimped ends of the fan duct and secure with Quality Duct Tape
