How to Write a Business Plan

When thinking about opening up your own business, it is very important to write a business plan. Not only could it help you obtain financing for you business, but it serves as a management tool, as well as an organization tool.

• Paper
• Ideas

1. Brainstorm! Write down all of the ideas you have for your business. When you are done, put them into the category in which they belong in the steps below.

2. Write down what type of business this will be. Will it be a manufacturing, retail, or service business?

3. Write down the legal structure of your business. General Partnership, Limited Partnership, Corporation, etc.

4. Write down the location of your business. Think about the distance from the customer base.

5. Write down your marketing plan. How will you market your business?

6. Write down the financials of your business. You should record how financially viable the business will be. You should also put all expenses and anything that has to do with finances in this section.

7. Once your business plan is complete, you should write a cover letter, non- disclosure statement, Title Page, Table of Contents, and Executive Summary.
