Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Take your cookie cutter and straighten it out with the pliers or just use metal ribbon instead. Think about the shape of the cookie cutter.

  2. Step 2

Draw out your design and make a template by drawing the exact size you want your cookie cutter on a sheet of paper. You can use it as a guide later when actually bending the metal sheet into the shape that you want it.

  3. Step 3

Using the pliers begin to bend the metal into place to make your new cookie cutter. Use your drawing as a guide for the size and curves of the metal sheets. You can also use a dowel rod or other wooden object to easily make bends in the metal.

  4. Step 4

Once you have your shape, take the pair of clamps to hold the two pieces together while you use the tape to keep them together. Let it sit for a while, so that the tape has time to settle and really grab hold of the two pieces.

  5. Step 5

Now you are ready to use your custom cookie cutter. Wash your cookie cutter in the sink once you are finished with it. Tossing it into a dishwasher will likely deteriorate the tape.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can buy make your own cookie cutter kits that come with everything you need.
  • Practice with cheap cookie cutters that sell under $1.
  • The edge of the metal ribbon can cut you. Use caution when working with it. You might want to protect any working surface with either newspaper print or use a cutting board.
  • Do not make your cookie cutters too big.
  • Do not make really detailed, tight turns as it will be hard to remove the cookie dough from it.
