Save Some Cash
Save Some Cash

A few simple common knowledge ways to save some cash.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Scissors
  • A few moments to think
  • A Goal
  • A planner or Calender
  1. Step 1

    Cut Up Your Credit Cards

Credit card debt is one of the leading causes of
bankruptcy for people. There is always the urge
to buy something you can’t afford, and it’s too
easy to do with a credit cards. I suggest you
just get rid of them, and just use a debit card.
With a debit card it is like holding real cash, so
you know exactly much you are spending and
that the money is leaving your possession at
that very moment. Using debit over credit will
save you a lot of money.

  2. Step 2

    Save Two Dollars Every Day

Simply put aside two dollars every day in a jar
or something. Every month you should have
about 60 dollars saved, and take it to your
bank. People don’t think much about spending
a dollar or two on donuts. Saving those extra
loose dollars will quickly build up your savings
    account.

  3. Step 3

    Buy Used Stuff

Used things are usually half off the new price.
Some things are just as good used as they are
new, such as TVs, DVDs and video games.
Things like clothes I suggest checking out
before purchasing used, but over all, buying
used things will save you a lot of money.

  4. Step 4

    Quit Smoking (If you smoke)

I know it’s a hard thing to do, but it is a huge
waste of money, not to mention one of the
worst things you can do to your body. If you
    smoke a pack a day that’s say… $5 dollars a
day. Which is $1,800 a year. $1,800 a year to
help yourself die quicker. It will also save you on cancer, Cancer will absolutely bankrupt you. I know from experience, you will end up loosing your job and other benefits as well as owing hospitals $10,000 plus in either deductibles or just plain cash.

  5. Step 5

    Have A Garage Sale

You most likely have a lot of junk. Surprisingly,
random people want random junk. If you have
a garage sale then you can supply these
random people with your random junk, and add
a good amount of extra dollars in your pocket.

  6. Step 6

Limit How Much You Go Out to Eat

Eating out is very expensive compared to
cooking at home. If you limit going out to 2-3
times a month you will save a good amount of
money. Purchase food for home in bulk. It will
be less expensive than continuously buying the
little things you need over and over again.

  7. Step 7

    Purchase in Bulk

As I was saying, buying in bulk will save you
TONS of cash. Instead of buying 3 rolls of toilet
paper at a time buy 50. The more you buy at
once, the cheaper it will be, plus you will not
have to waste gas on driving places.

  8. Step 8

Open an interest bearing bank account

Earn money for just keeping you money in the
bank. Nothing is easier than that. Keep most of
your money in the bank so you can gain the
    most interest.

Tips & Warnings
  • Thrift stores are your best friend. Just the other day I bought a brand new John Henry Pinstripe Jacket with tags and all still on it for only 30$, the original price was $200!
  • Goodwill Stores and Market Street Missions, are great places to buy furniture and other accessories.
  • The Dollar store is also a great place to look for things like plasticware and other cheap items like nail clippers, combs, brushes, and party accessories.
  • For Cancer insurance, take a look into AFLAC, they have a great cancer insurance plan for individuals for only 10 dollars a week.
  • For a Garage sale, to get more attention, make a few signs and advertise it a week or two before hand with the date and time. Tell your friends and co-workers, as well as any relatives in the area. Everyone loves junk!
  • Try Limiting going out all together, not only will you save money, you will begin to eat healthier.
  • Talk to your banker, see what options they have. Or join a program like Wachovia has where every purchase you make they put a dollar into your savings account up to 300 dollars a year.
  • Be Careful with Debit Cards, for although it may be "cash" on hand, you can cause an overdraft, which the bank will then charge you for.
  • If you buy clothes from a thrift store, remember to wash them.
  • Upfront, buying in bulk seems expensive, but it really will save you money in the long run.
  • Do not limit yourself in the ways to save money, these are just some common helpful ideas.
