Tipping is a necessity in most areas of travel. The following is advice in how to tip when traveling by a tour bus.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Tips are gathered at the end of the trip by a designated individual.

  2. Step 2

    Usually a bus driver is tipped $4 a day and a tour guide is tipped $5 a day. More or less depending on the enjoyment of the trip.

  3. Step 3

    To personalize your tip, put it in a sealed envelope with a personal word of thanks.

on 9/9/2009 Just some points of note. I am a tour bus driver and have been doing the job for about 8 years now. The tour driving industry is not the best paying out there, and tips are a very welcomed gesture.

Your driver works hard to make your trip enjoyable and safe. They have to fight heavy traffic, drive for extended periods of time, that most people would never think of doing, and they handle all those bags that people keep thinking, heaver is better. At the end of the day when your trip is over they continue to work getting the bus clean, sanitized, and ready for you to enjoy the next day. They clean up all the garbage that people feel needs to be placed on the floor instead of the garbage bags normally provided. After all that is done they go to their room and start in on the paper work.

Don't get me wrong here. If your driver is a miserable S.O.B. and does nothing more then make your...
