The fact is that sometimes the largest drain on anyone's finances happens from broken and lost items. When you break things or lose items, you usually always need to replace them. So you can save hundreds, if not , thousands of dollars each and every year just be repairing the broken items or recycling them and by having lost items returned. Right after this "comment and email" box, I will tell you the steps to take so that you can save hundreds of dollars each year. Please read all the way to the bottom of the Warnings section to get the full benefit of this article.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Name labels or
  • A printer or rubber stamp with your name and phone on it
  • Identification labels
  • Permanent marker, all colors
  • Scotch tape or glue
  • engraver

Step1
All clothing should be labeled, even socks. For socks use cloth labels on dark socks, markers on light socks. Collect all your name and address labels, and phone labels or even have a rubber stamp printed with that information. Make sure your markers are permanent markers, not waterproof markers. Use engravers to label metals or plastics or other materials. Label your bikes and exercise equipment.
Step2
These items are labeled on the inside of the item. But, everything is labeled. Get all of your expensive or important items in the room. Decide to label everything, no matter how silly it looks, just label it.

I have labeled clothing that was sent out to the laundry and it always comes right back to me. Before labeling, clothing was always conveniently lost.
Step3
Label everything you own. And I do mean everything. Label even things that you think you will never lose. Label your cellular phone. This is probably the most lost item in America. Decide for yourself whether a label or sticker is best for each particular item. I label cameras with markers and my phone number. Books and other items can use stickers or rubber stamps.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use permanent marker on some things to label them instead of using labels.
  • On Expensive items, I use black markers to mark my name and or phone on them. This computer that I am typing on has my name and phone number on it.
  • You can set a file up right on your desktop with your phone numbers on it and type in REWARD for this computer. That might guarantee a return.
  • Never put your home address on the outside of your travel luggage, suitcases or backpacks. Put your cellular number there instead. If you must put an address on it, put the address of your destination on it.
  • Never put your home number on your suitcase if your number is listed. It is easy for crooks to do reverse number look up and have your home address. They can go to your home while you are away traveling.
  • If you deliver items to inferior rehabilitation and care centers, hospitals or nursing homes, label, tag, photograph and inventory them to ensure that they remain in the patient's room.
