How to Re-Pierce An Ear

Why would anyone want to re-pierce an ear? Simple answer and there is a simple solution to the problem of needing to re-pierce. A little background here, when I first finally went to have my ears pierced, I had the unfortunate experience of having the worker get the "gun" stuck in one of my ear lobes. They use this kind of appliance that looks like a stapler to pierce the ear, and when the pressed down on the one ear lobe, the gun got stuck in the lobe. They had a little bit of a hard time getting it out of my ear, and as a result of that this one piercing has always given me trouble. When I put an earring in there, it takes forever, so I leave the earring off for months at a time. Seems that does not help the problem either because once I go back to wearing earrings again, I can not put the earring in this one ear. So, this past week, I decided to re-pierce the ear without going back to a store or to a doctor. Since the hole was already in the ear, but it just was not completely through, I knew that I could re-pierce it without a problem. So, I am writing this article, not to promote re-piercing but to explain the steps that I took to re-pierce my own ear lobe. Long ago, a nurse described to me how the nurses used to pierce their own ears with ice and with needles, so remembering that I decided to take a try at that. DISCLAIMER: I am not suggesting that you do anything described in this article. You, the reader, take full responsibility for your own health, safety and piercings. Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging

Things You’ll Need:

  • One sterilized earring
  • One ice cube
  • Steady hands
  • Courage
  • Ability to try new things
  • Your own good judgment
  • Do this at your own risk and your own responsibility.

Step1
Clean hands and surface of table that you will be using. Put a clean towel down on the table. Place earrings, papertowels, and bowl of ice on table.
Step2
Ask a friend to come over and help or watch you do this. (If you are a minor, do not do this at all but consult with your legal guardian before doing anything like this).

Take a piece of ice and put it behind your ear lobe.
Step3
Put the earring on the other side of the lobe. Press the earring hard into your ear until the other end reaches through the ice. You should feel no pain and the hole should be all the way through the lobe now.

USE this technique to re-pierce only.
