Although most high school students are minors, the student should weigh all their options and consider what type of high school is best for them. Think about going to an online high school, being home schooled, going to private school, going to a continuation school, or taking adult school/GED, if you qualify.

If you live in California, you are required to take a High School Exit Exam. Find out if you need to take a High School Exit Exam and pass it as early as possible.

Take extra courses in high school, during the summer or Before/After School. Some high schools offer enrichment courses during the summer, as well as Zero period and Seventh Period.

Although actual high school requirements very by state and district, it is best to finish the Minimum Requirement for the state, as soon as possible. (If you are 18, then you can enroll in Adult High school and finish an extra courses from there).
In California, the minimum high school requirements are 3 courses in English, 2 courses in Math, including Algerbra 1, 2 courses in Science, 3 courses in Social Studies, including American Government and Economics, 1 course in the Visual/Performing arts or Foreign Language, and 2 courses in Physical Education.
Then in Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District, for example, requires in addition to the minimum requirements, 1 course in English, 1 course in Health/Academic Planning, 8 courses of Electives, 40 hours of Community Service, and the H.S. Exit Exam.
