Here's how to get your new baby on a sleeping schedule. It may take some time but stick with it and you'll get some needed sleep soon!

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Step1
When baby comes home, whether formula or breastfeeding, you will probably be feeding every 2 1/2 to 3 hours. After the three hours, try to keep baby up for an hour or so and then let them fall asleep.
Step2
Around week two, when your pediatrician gives you the okay, you can start letting your baby sleep a little longer than three hours at night and let baby tell you when they are hungry. Be consistent with feeding every 2 1/2 to three hours during the day and stick with the play time and then nap time.
Step3
Around week 8 or 9, baby will usually all of a sudden start sleeping for longer stretches during the night, and so will you!

Tips & Warnings

  • Enjoy your little one because before you know it, they'll be crawling around in no time!
  • Always check with your pediatrician to make sure they support what you are doing. Some babies require special care.
