Step 1
As soon as you get up in the morning and get your toiletry chores out of the way, step outside into the fresh air. Stand tall, raise your arms and inhale deeply. As you do this, imagine positive energy coming into your body. Then slowly bend at the waist and reach for your toes while exhaling, and imagine you are blowing out a black cloud of smoke. Imagine this black smoke as all of your negative energy. If it's raining outside, you can do this indoors. Do this for 10 to 15 repetitions each morning.

Step 2
Laugh your stress away. Laughing can be one of the best stress-busters you will ever do for yourself. On your drive to work or while taking your morning shower, just bust a gut laughing for a few minutes. You may want to do this before your outdoor breathing session.

Step 3
Stones can help sooth the mind and keep you calm. They have been used by our ancestors for thousands of years. Find an amber or citrine stone and keep it in your pocket. The stones' properties will help attract positive energy and dissipate negative energy. Quartz crystals are also extremely powerful for this. Stones and crystals are not absolutely necessary for keeping a positive attitude, but they sure won't hurt.

Step 4
Find a quiet place where you can be alone for a few minutes whenever something comes up during the day that stresses you out. This can even be a stall in the office bathroom. Sit down, if possible, close your eyes and begin to inhale and exhale deeply. Clear your mind and imagine being alone at a soothing stream or some other relaxing place.

Step 5
Include a bit of stretching before going to sleep. This will help you get a good rest and will unwind your body from the day's stress.

on 7/26/2008 Every single time you find your mind obsessively wandering into negative thought, STOP IT. It takes practice, but with effort, it can be done. I made it a goal last year that after allowing myself to think about something briefly, to then let it go and to not allow myself to spiral into negative thought. With an entire month of practice, I was able to overcome the OCD mental process.
