Step 1
How much time do you have to spare? You may want to begin looking in your own community. You could call your local Senior Citizens center. There are lots of shut-ins who could use a hand and some seniors may just want some computer instructions. There are volunteer matches available on the internet as well. You should consider your interests to match yourself with the right kind of volunteer work. There are homeless shelters in cities, animal shelters, and there are the larger non-profit organizations as well. You should choose several that you are interested in and then narrow it down. Determine the amount of time you have to spare by the week or month. Donate your time will also enrich your life as well.

Step 2
What are your interests? The next step is to contact the organizations and tell them about yourself. They will want to know how much time per week or month you have to spare as well as what your interests and abilities are.

Step 3
Set up a time to meet your contact person and discuss what types of services are needed. This meeting will determine where you will most benefit the individual or organization.
