Proper Ways to Conduct CPR.
Proper Ways to Conduct CPR.

CPR is known as cardiopulmonary resuscitation. It consists of a combination of rescue breathing and chest compressions. When properly administered, it will restore oxygen-rich blood throughout the victims body. Being CPR certified has enabled me to not only learn more about helping people, but has given me the knowledge to properly administer life saving procedures.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Decide whether a person needs CPR. CPR should only be administered if the victim is not breathing. Signs to watch out for is whether the victim's chest is rising and falling, or you can put your ear to the victim's mouth and listen for sounds of breathing.

  2. Step 2

If the victim is in need of CPR, you will want to administer the ABC's. The A stands for airway. You will want to make sure the victim's mouth is open for breathing to take place.

  3. Step 3
For rescue breathing, place one hand on forehead and two fingers on chin.
For rescue breathing, place one hand on forehead and two fingers on chin.

In order to properly position the mouth for rescue breathing, you will want to put a hand on the victim's forehead, and two fingers from your other hand on the victim's chin.

  4. Step 4

After opening the victim's airwaves, you will give the victim 2 rescue breaths.

  5. Step 5

Now it is time to administer the C in the ABC's, which stands for circulation. Chest compressions will be able to restore circulation. After the rescue breaths, you will administer 30 cycles of chest compressions immediately after the rescue breaths. You will want to administer these along the lines of the ribcage. They will be 1 1/2 inch to 2 inches deep for an adult.

  6. Step 6

Repeat the cycle of 2 rescue breaths followed by 30 chest compressions. This will consist of about 80-100 chest compressions in a minute.

  7. Step 7

Continue STEP 6 until help arrives.

Tips & Warnings
  • Take CPR classes where you can get hands on training
  • Remember every minute counts. For every minute CPR is not administered, a victim's life will be reduced by 10%.
  • Different procedures of CPR are required for children
  • If someone is not breathing and CPR is required immediately have someone call 911 as you begin CPR on the victim, remember gave minute is precious
  • CPR should not be practiced on anyone
