Claustrophobia is a mental condition where the patient feels incredibly trapped in small spaces, to the point of suffering an anxiety attack. Here are some steps to help you overcome claustrophobia.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Talk to a therapist. Counseling is the first step to overcoming a fear. Try to talk as much about what causes the fear with your therapist. He/she can help you decide what you should do to overcome your claustrophobia.

  2. Step 2

Start placing yourself in non-threatening situations that expressly deal with your claustrophobia. Find small rooms in your house and stay there for 5 minutes at a time. Exposure is usually a good way to start dealing with phobias.

  3. Step 3

Hypnosis is a possible alternative treatment. Hypnosis may also help in finding what originally caused your claustrophobia. Ask your therapist if he/she believes hypnosis would help you.
