Instructions on how to save money on diapers or get free diapers.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Diaper Exchange ~ If you've ever had a baby, you know how many diapers get wasted. If you're expecting, you'll soon find out. Infants and toddlers grow quickly. Those newborn diapers may be a good fit on Friday, but by Monday, they may be visibly uncomfortable for your child. We can't always wait until we've used up our stock before buying the next size up. Sadly, these diapers often sit bagged up, waiting for another baby, only to be thrown out when space is needed. JOIN OR FORM a Diaper Exchange. A group of parents whose children are close in age can exchange outgrown diapers rather than storing them or discarding them. Half a box of quality diapers can cost over ten dollars. With a Diaper Exchange, nothing goes to waste.

  2. Step 2

Gift Registry ~ Sure, you need a crib and a swing. You also need diapers. When you are registering for baby gifts, make sure to include stores that carry diapers. Register for a a couple boxes in each size. That way you won't get stuck with too many leftovers of any size.

  3. Step 3

Corporate Websites ~ Register an account with corporate websites and you will be pleasantly surprised with the volume of coupons and samples you receive. You won't only get diapers, but also lotions, soaps, and learning tools.

  4. Step 4

Online Parenting Groups ~ Join online parenting groups and keep updated with the special offers floating around. When parents find a great deal or a freebie, they often post it on their favorite parenting bulletin board. Join one. You'll get more than money saving news. You'll also get support and useful advice.

  5. Step 5

Bring a Calculator ~ Many parents assume that buying in bulk will save them money, but this is not always the case. Take a calculator to crunch the numbers. You may find (as I often have) that two smaller packages will cost less and provide more than a single mega-pack. Sometimes the difference is only a couple pennies or diapers. Sometimes it's a matter of dollars and a dozen. Make this a habit. Those savings add up quickly.

  6. Step 6

Wholesale Clubs ~ Sometimes you can save a bundle. Sometimes you come out even. If you are buying a membership to a club exclusively to purchase cheaper diapers, you first need to make sure they are really cheaper. Often the discount at wholesale clubs is not enough to recover the cost of membership.

  7. Step 7

Go Cloth ~ Many people believe they are healthier, environmentally friendly, and more comfortable for your baby. They are also a great way to save money on diapers.

on 8/14/2008 I think cloth is the way to go. You can literally save more than a thousand dollars over the 2 years or so a child will be in diapers - then you can use them on your next child with no ivestment cost!!
