How to get rid of pet odors in carpet
Are you tired of that awful after smell left by your furry friend in your carpet? Well I have found the solution! If you have a household steam cleaner, you can do it too! Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- 1/2 cup Pine Sol
- 1/2 cup Downy, regular strength
- 1/3 cup Household Ammonia
- Hot tap water...... Depending on the size of your container, you may want to reduce the cleaners to 1/3 cup Pine-Sol and 1/3 cup Downy, and 1/4 cup of Household Ammonia
Instructions
-
-
1
Place the Pine-Sol in the container first, add some hot water slowly, then add Downy, again slowly adding more water in your steam cleaner liquid container.
-
2
Fill almost to the fill line on the container, allowing room for the ammonia.
-
-
3
Add the ammonia and put the lid on securely. Gently shake the container back and forth a couple of times, taking care not to make mixture bubble too much.
-
4
Place the container back into the steam cleaner and clean the carpet as usual. For really stubborn or older spots, go over it a few times, making sure to get as much of the moisture out as possible.
-

When finished, be sure to rinse the container until water runs clear, and place some hot water back into the tank. Run over the carpet or your tile floor a couple of times to clear the solution from the plumbing of the steam cleaner. Rinse and store your unit.

Tips & Warnings
The Downy adds an extra little 'punch' to lift the smell and you get nice soft carpet that's water resistant too!
If you can't use household ammonia, don't worry, the Pine-Sol and Downy do great by themselves.
NEVER leave this mixture in the tank of your cleaning machine.
Do a SPOT TEST to ensure color fastness before attempting.
PLEASE keep your pets away from the carpet until dry.
DO NOT mix these cleaners and store them together.
