How to Make a Comical Pirate Name
Real pirates were hardened, often merciless, killers who you did not want to run into, but we shouldn't let that drag down our fantasy. Playing pirate is all about extravagant costumes and silliness. A really absurd name is a great place to start.

1
Think long. In general, the longer a name, the greater its potential for comic absurdity.
-
2
Think of an incongruous name. Everyone has heard of Captain Kidd, Anne Booney, the Dread Pirate Roberts and other famous pirates and privateers, both fictional and real. But who has heard of the pirate Fluffy, or the dreaded privateer Bruiser? Names that are wimpy, anachronistically modern or humorous sounding are great comical pirate names.
-
3
Think of some humorous adjectives that relate to your pirate name. To build on previous examples, think of names such as "Bruiser the Unsubtle" or the "Ferocious Pirate Fluffy." In the former case, the name is humorous because "unsubtle" seems like a good descriptor for someone named Bruiser. In the latter case, the description is funny because it is hard to picture someone named Fluffy as ferocious.
-
4
Think of a title. Instead of "ruler of the seven seas" or "scourge of shipping," think of something minor such as "commander of Park Pond" or "king of the bullfrogs." The more absurd you go, the better.
-
5
Combine multiple adjectives and titles to create an even more ridiculous name. Expanding our previous example, you could call yourself, "The Ferocious Pirate Fluffy the Merciless, commander of the Paper Ship Armada and King of the Bullfrogs."
