Shop in person and on-line for a cupcake tree stand. You can find them anywhere that has baking supplies and some craft stores even carry them. If you can't find one, you can use a tiered cake stand. The only difference is that a cupcake tree will have a holder or a small round form where the cupcake will be placed. With a cake stand you are free to put the cupcakes as close together as you'd like. Most of these cupcake trees are very easy to assemble and you'll have it together in no time.

Tips & Warnings
If you want the cupcake tree to look really fancy, or to match a certain theme, try putting some leaves or lace right under the cupcakes, making sure that you can easily see them from the outside of the tree.
You can also place small flowers between each cupcake.
For a fancy affair weave a string of lights into the tree before you put the cupcakes on it, and then when you're ready to serve you can plug the lights in for a very dramatic effect.
