How to Create a Mowing Edge
If you have a flower bed next to your lawn, it may be difficult to mow the lawn evenly when plants start spilling off the edge or borders. Trimming the plants can help, but you can protect your plantings by creating a mowing edge. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Paving (bricks or paving slabs)
- Half-moon edger
- Spade
- gravel or mixture of sand
- Plank of wood
- Rubber mallet

Mark off the area of grass where you would make a cut to lift them off. Use a paving as guide.

Use a half-moon edger to cut the grass. Lift the cut grass using a spade.

Add gravel or sand mixture to the newly exposed soil. This will act as a firm base. Use a plank of wood and place it on top of the gravel or sand and then hit with a rubber mallet to compact the base and make sure that it is level.

Place the pavers (bricks or slabs of pavers) on top of the base. Use the rubber mallet to set them in place. this will create your mowing edge.

Check to make sure it is level.
