How to relieve the pain of mouth ulcers and sores

Have a mouth ulcer or sore spot in your mouth that is driving you crazy? Here's a tried and true pain relief recipe straight from my pharmacist.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Cherry Maalox
  • Cherry Benadryl
  • shot glass or medicine cup
Step1
Mix 2 tablespoons of Cherry Maalox and 2 tablespoons of Cherry Benadryl in a medicine cup or shot glass.
Step2
Make sure the mixture is well blended.
Step3
Put enough of the mixture in your mouth that you need to swish around and coat the inside of your mouth. Spit out the rest.
Step4
Allow your mouth to rest for a bit. This allows the mixture to work and relieve the pain.
Step5
Repeat as necessary, up to 4 times daily.

Tips & Warnings

  • You don't necessarily have to use the flavors disclosed. It does however, make for a more pleasant taste.
  • Do not use this remedy if the instructions on either bottle warn against usage because of an existing health condition you may have.
  • Please follow all guidelines on the medicine bottles before using.
  • If you drink this mixture it can and probably will cause drowsiness.
  • There is a slight risk of drowsiness even if you follow directions.
  • DO NOT USE this mixture when you have consumed alcoholic beverages or while drinking alcoholic beverages.
