How to Install Nitrous on Your Motorcycle

  1. Step 1

Remove all the wiring and instructions from your kit and place them where you can read them.

  2. Step 2

Find a suitable spot to mount the bottle that is away from heat and out of the way. Nitrous can explode, ruining your system, if exposed to extreme temperatures.

  3. Step 3

Plumb your system. Connect the injector to your fuel injection system. Many injectors connect in front of the fuel sensors, this helps the fuel injectors monitor the nitrous output better, but follow your instructions carefully for specifics.

  4. Step 4

Check your bike's wire diagram to wire your nitrous system. Many nitrous systems wire directly to your horn on the handlebars. locate the horn wire from the handlebar harness and remove the casing. In a GSXR1000, the wire is black, and in many other models the wire is black with a white line. Connect the wires as specified in your instructions and follow both the nitrous diagram and the bike's wiring diagram carefully.

  5. Step 5

Test your system. Arm the system with the ignition control switch, hit the throttle and pump in small spurts of N2O. Listen for the hiss of nitrous to see that the system is working.

  6. Step 6

Ride your bike to a performance shop and get it "Dynoed", which is getting a quick diagnosis of your bikes systems. Then hit the track and feel the power and speed of nitrous!

Tips & Warnings
  • Nitrous bottles don't have a fuel gage, you have to weigh them to see if they are full. Take note of how much your bottle weighs when full and empty to determine how much is left.
  • Nitrous bottles are mounted near the seat, over the tire or somewhere where the air can cool them, but they are protected.
  • Nitrous is very explosive, so always handle with care, even when contained in a bottle. Using nitrous on your motorcycle is only recommended on the race track and it may be illegal in your state. Use with caution and wear safety gear.
