How to Make a Ziploc Bag Gun
Science can be a fun subject to learn and any person, young or old, can benefit from taking some time and learning new and interesting things. Science gets to be even more fun when you get to do your own experiments at home or in the classroom so you can see science at work instead of just reading it in some book. One such science lesson is the utilization of force to increase or decrease speed. This piece of science can easily be demonstrated through what is called a "ZipLoc Bag Gun" and this article will show you how to make and use one as well as chart your findings.
Things You'll Need

Making a ZipLoc Bag Gun
-
1
Using your pencil draw a small 3 x 3 grid including columns for distance, pellet used and force applied.
-
2
Find a location that is really flat and with a wall to catch the pellets.
-
-
3
Unroll your measuring tape on the ground with the larger numbers starting at the wall.
-
4
Open your ZIpLoc bag and fill it halfway with air then zip it shut.
-
5
Push in a bottom corner of the bag so that you can see it "inside" the bag and push your pellet into the corner until it rips the bag and is inside it.
-
6
Set your bag flat on the ground at the beginning of your tape measuring and press gently on it. The pressure will push the pellet against the corner making an airtight seal.
-
7
Press softly on the bag--enough pressure to push the pellet out of the bag. Wait for the pellet to stop moving then record the distance on your grid as Pellet #1, Soft Pressure and then the distance.
-
8
Blow your ZipLoc bag up again, press in the corner and insert the pellet. Set it onto the floor at the beginning of your measuring tape and use medium pressure to propel the pellet out of the bag and record your findings. Repeat using strong pressure and record those findings as well.

Tips & Warnings
Try the experiment again using objects of varying sizes and weights.
Never turn your ZipLoc gun on a human being or animal as it can hurt a lot.
