Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Determine which search dog organization you want to support. You might decide you want to aid your local search dog teams. After all, these are the search dog teams that will likely help with searches that matter to you most.
Step2
Call your local law enforcement agencies and ask them for contact information on your local search dog groups. Your local police and sheriff departments should be able to provide you with these phone numbers. There may be more than one search dog group in your area. Ask your local law enforcement agencies which are the most active in your community and what the differences are among the different groups.
Step3
Call the search dog group that you have decided you would like to donate money to. Ask them what the best way would be for you to make a donation. Typically they will offer you a website to go to or give you an address at which you may send a check.
Step4
Ask the search dog groups in what other ways you might be able to lend support to search dogs. Perhaps there is a current search they are working on that they need an extra helping hand. This can be a non-monetary way you can support your favorite search dog group.
Step5
Obtain a receipt for your donation to the search dog group. Most search dog organizations are non-profit 501(c)3 organizations. That means you can deduct your donation on your taxes, if you so choose.
