If you are wanting to attract deer for hunting or just for viewing in your yard, follow these simple suggestions for feeding and attracting deer.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • salt block
  • corn feed
  • day-old bread
  • doe scent (optional)
  1. Step 1

Set up a salt block. If you are attracting deer for hunting purposes, set out a salt block in the area of your hunting spot. If you are wanting to attract deer to come into your wooded yard for non-hunting purposes, position the salt block far away from your house. You do not want deer gathering near your front door.

  2. Step 2

Scatter corn. You can purchase 20-pound bags of feed corn from your local feed store. Scatter corn on the ground in a wide radius in the area where you want to direct them to. If you are attracting deer for hunting purposes, you will want to start scattering corn weeks before hunting season begins.

  3. Step 3

Feed them bread. Purchase boxes of day old bread for very little money. Simply pile up the bread and wait for the deer to come.

  4. Step 4

Doe scent. If you are wanting to attract bucks, purchase a bottle of "doe scent" and dab a little around your hunting area (the safest way to put out doe scent is on a tree or on leaves). It is not safe to apply the doe scent to your body because a buck could possibly attack you.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you are curious to see the deer eat from your food plots, set up an outdoor digital camera which can be found in most sporting good departments.
  • When scattering corn or bread in effort to attract deer to your yard, keep in mind that other animals will be attracted too; therefore, it is not safe to place any of the food plots near your house.
