Choosing an anniversary gift for the one you love should take a little time and thought. You can be creative, give a traditional gift, or come up with something that will be specific to your partner. If you plan ahead and do a little research, finding the right anniversary gift will be a cinch.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Take a look at the traditional anniversary gift list for ideas. Traditional gift ideas are pretty interesting. For example, the first year suggests paper, the second year is cotton, the fifth year is wood, and the tenth year is aluminum or tin. You can use this guide to get the ideas flowing for gifts.

  2. Step 2

Check out the modern list of anniversary gift suggestions. The modern anniversary gift ideas are a bit updated from the traditional list. For the first year, it suggests a clock, the second year is china, the fifth year is silverware, and the tenth year is diamond jewelry. Take a look and see if these ideas spark your creativity.

  3. Step 3

Think about homemade gift ideas. Sometimes the best gifts are ones from the heart, so don't discount something you could make yourself. If you're handy, you could make a piece of furniture, and if you're good with words, you could write a poem. The possibilities are endless, so think outside the box.

  4. Step 4

Think about the things your partner likes. If your significant other hates jewelry, then steer clear of it. If you know your partner is fond of a certain perfume or cologne, then something along those lines would be meaningful.

  5. Step 5

Do some research on the Internet. If you do a search for anniversary gift ideas, you will get some great suggestions that may help you decide.

  6. Step 6

List out all your ideas, and decide which one best fits for your partner, along with your budget.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be sure to do something for your anniversary, even if it's just a card. Nobody likes to be forgotten.
  • Don't buy something just because it's traditional. If you suspect your partner won't like it, don't buy it.
