Minimize exposure to dust, mold and other allergens. Dust, mold and other allergens lurk in almost every place. The most common place they lurk is in your home. Constant exposure to these allergens can cause chronic bronchitis. Cleaning your house is a big step in the right direction regarding minimization to these allergens.

Avoid working in high risk areas. High risk areas such as cotton mills, steel mills, construction sites or any other type of work area where there is an abundance of floating particles could cause chronic bronchitis in the long run. Either changing your career or simply wearing a mask (especially in cotton and steel mills) can help you in reducing your chances of developing chronic bronchitis.

Don't smoke. Smoking is perhaps the number one cause of chronic bronchitis and needs to be avoided at all costs (first and second hand smoke). If you smoke, it is recommended that you quit as soon as possible because smoking causes more than just chronic bronchitis it can cause heart disease, lung cancer and many other types of physical ailments such as staining of the teeth.
