    Fix Scratches on Hardwood Floors

  1. Step 1

The easiest way to fix scratches on hardwood floors is to buff the floor with wax. You will want to decide if you are going to use a no buff wax or a paste wax. Either will give you the results you desire.

  2. Step 2

For this example, go with a no buff wax because of the ease of use. Start this project by giving the area the scratch is located a quick vacuuming.

  3. Step 3

Shake up the no buff wax and put a small amount on your clean cloth.

  4. Step 4

Using a circular motion, work the no buff wax into the scratch. You should see that the scratch is darkening up and blending into the color of the rest of your flooring.

  5. Step 5

Once the wax has been worked into the scratch, take another clean cloth and slowly run it over the area that has been waxed. Make sure that there are no puddles lingering and the wax job is even. Enjoy your floor.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do not pour a puddle of wax onto the floor. You will be using a very small amount of wax and it is easier to control if you put it directly on your cleaning cloth.
  • Do not try to sand out the scratch on your floor. Leave that to a professional.
