3
Look up independent publishers. Thoroughly read through their criteria for the genre that you are writing about. If you meet their criteria, don't hesitate to submit your work.
-
4
Create a two paragraph synopsis of the manuscript. Make it worth the read. Editors get so many submissions that two paragraphs will be too much sometimes. If you want to make your submission stand out, your synopsis should lock the reader in and make him want more.
-
5
Carefully read and follow submission guidelines. Many publishers set these guidelines in order to eliminate those that can't follow simple instructions.
-
6
Don't give up. Chances are you will receive several rejections before you will get a publisher that will take you on. Just keep trying. If you are given feedback, give it under serious consideration.
-
7
Keep writing. Write down every idea that comes up. Carry around a small notebook and pen in order to jot down ideas as they come to you. Most ideas will come up at random times. It is important to be prepared.
