Does your dog suffer from skin allergies? Being exposed to such environmental factors as pollen, dust, plants, grass, and mold can all cause symptoms of skin allergy in dogs. Here's how to treat dog skin allergies naturally.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

To treat dog skin allergies, bathe your dog frequently with an all natural, hypoallergenic shampoo. If you can't find a good hypoallergenic dog shampoo at your pet store, check your local natural food market.

  2. Step 2

If you can determine what your dog is allergic to, take steps to reduce exposure. The best way to find out what's triggering your dog's skin allergies is to take him to the vet for allergy skin testing.

  3. Step 3

Supplement your dog's diet with omega 3 fatty acids found in fish oils. Omega 3's have natural anti-inflammatory properties that can help to reduce your dog's symptoms.

  4. Step 4

Another cause for dog skin allergies is an allergic reaction to fleas. This can be controlled by using natural forms of flea control.

  5. Step 5

If your dog undergoes allergy skin testing and you're able to identify the allergen, your vet can give your dog allergy shots to gradually reduce symptoms.

  6. Step 6

If your dog has sensitive skin that's prone to allergies, avoid applying any products to his skin that are scented or have harsh chemicals. Use all natural and herbal products whenever possible.
