1. Talk to your child and explain the importance of nutrition and how they body will grow so that they can big like mom and dad. Eating healthy will enable them to have more energy and generally just feel better.

2. Turn off all TVs and other distractions around the house. If you sit at the table as a family eating dinner this will enable your child to want to eat more since you are. Any distractions will take their mind away from what they are doing. Your child will start to get bored and want to do something else.

3. Promise dessert or some kind of treat if they eat everything on their plate. If they do not they will have to watch you and the rest of the family enjoying an after-dinner treat. This will make them definitely want to finish because they would like to have the treat, especially if it is something they enjoy.

4. Make them sit at the table until they are done. This means no more playing outside with their favorite toys and they cannot watch their favorite shows on TV. This will get your child's attention right away no kid wants to sit at the table while the rest of the family is having fun.

5. Sometimes it will take a little while for these steps to work. After that dinner should be a lot easier you will still have your ups and downs but for the most part your child will learn that when it is dinner time they have to eat or there will be consequences they must face.
