Crohn's Disease is one of the two main forms of IBD, or Inflammatory Bowel Disease. Conventional medicine uses anti inflammatory, and immunosuppressive medications to control symptoms. There is no cure for any form of IBS. However, thousands of people use low dose naltrexone to eliminate the symptoms and progression of Crohn's disease. LDN has been shown to stop symptoms, allow the gut to heal, and encourage the body to properly absorb nutrients.

  • If making your own LDN, you'll need distilled water, a medicine dropper, and a small glass bottle.
  1. Step 1

Ask your doctor for a prescription for low dose naltrexone. Be prepared to defend your treatment decision. Take along reference materials from your research. There have been recent clinical trial proving LDN an effective treatment for Crohn's Disease. See resource section for a link to study information.

  2. Step 2

Have your prescription filled at a compounding pharmacy experienced with low dose naltrexone.

  3. Step 3

Consider alternate sources of LDN. If your doctor refuses to prescribe low dose naltrexone, contact one of the online LDN support groups and ask for the names and numbers of physicians known to support ldn use. Some doctors will require an in office appointment, while others will require a telephone consultation and copies of medical records. It is also possible to order full strength naltrexone from several online pharmacies.

  4. Step 4

If using full strength naltrexone, dissolve one 50mg tablet in 50ml distilled water. Store in refrigerator. Shake well before each use. Use medicine dropper to measure the correct amount of medication.

  5. Step 5

Ideal dosage for Crohn's Disease is 4.5mg taken each evening between 11pm and 1am. Most people take their LDN at bedtime.

  6. Step 6

If sleep disturbances occur, try taking low dose naltrexone a bit earlier in the evening. LDN can be taken as early as 9pm and still be an effective treatment for Crohn's Disease.
