Vinegar is an amazing product that was discovered thousands of years ago by accident. The ancients discovered the remarkable versatility of vinegar. The Babylonians used it as a preservative and as a condiment; they also learned how to flavor it with herbs and spices.White distilled vinegar has become a popular organic household cleanser. White vinegar, due to its level of acidity, is effective for killing mold, bacteria, and germs. Vinegar is a truly remarkable solution with a variety of uses around the house.

How to Use Vinegar for Household Chores

Step1
Clean scissors. Use white distilled vinegar to clean scissors that have become sticky, after cutting tape, by dipping them in undiluted white distilled vinegar and wiping them clean with a cotton cloth.
Step2
Eliminate refrigerator odors. Remove the bad smells from a refrigerator washing the area and then spraying surfaces with full-strength white distilled vinegar. Wipe with a damp cloth or sponge.
Step3
Clean Glasses. Use a splash of vinegar in a cup of water to clean eyeglasses and leave them free of streaks.
Step4
Remove Dust from Silk Flowers. To clean and remove the dust from silk flower arrangements, fill a hand held mist sprayer with white vinegar. Spray the flowers and watch the dust disappear.
Step5
Extend wick life. Soak new lantern and candle wicks in vinegar for a few hours. Let them dry before using. The wicks will burn longer and brighter.
Step6
Fight Shower Curtain Mold. To help fight mold on shower curtains, just add 1 cup of white distilled vinegar to the rinse water when you launder your shower curtain. Do not spin dry or wash out. Hang immediately to dry.
