This is a quick fix prevention of your avocados turning brown.... Keeps it looking fresh and yummy for longer! I don't like to eat it after it turns brown, do you?
I especially don't like to serve guacamoli when it is brown..."to anyone".

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 4-8 avocados
  • Daisy Sour Cream
  • Salt and Pepper
  • 1-2 TbSp. Mayo.(real)
  • Mixing Bowl w/ lid
  • Fork and a spoon
  1. Step 1

Peel your avocados, slice them up, put them into your bowl. "Do Not Throw Away the Pit"... (Set the pit aside).

  2. Step 2

Smash up the avocados really good.

  3. Step 3

Add Salt and Pepper to your liking. "Not too much".

  4. Step 4

Add about 1/2-1 cup of Daisy Sour Cream. Slowly mix in little bits at a time, until thick yet creamy smooth. Mix it in thoroughly.

  5. Step 5

Now mix in about 1-2 ts. of Real mayo. (I use yellow label Best Foods). Make sure you mix it in little by little, to your taste. Mix really well.

  6. Step 6

Now... Add the pit you set aside earlier! Mix up with the mixture for about 30 seconds, as this will allow the seed to come in contact with the entire contents in bowl (very important).

  7. Step 7

Now it is ready to eat!! It is good just like this, however... you can also add some tomato's and or chopped green onion's.... before you seal and refrigerate.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure you keep the seed in the mix for it's duration, as it keeps longer!
  • This is good on baked potato's and many other thing's to... (experiment).
  • "Do not throw away the seed".
  • "Do not leave out, keep refrigerated", as it contains dairy product's.

on 5/17/2009 Might want to give Harold McGee, On Food and Cooking a read. Add an acidic ingredient, such as lime juice to it, or by airtight wrapping with a plastic film that blocks oxygen effectively. If its mashed avocado, press the wrap directly to the surface. He also did an experiment which you can try. stick the pit submerged in the top of some mashed avocado, and stick a lightbulb submerged in another part of it. The parts that weren't exposed to oxygen, like the part under the pit and the part around the lightbulb base will be green.

on 6/24/2008 Hi SpiderWriter.. "Yes it really works... give it a shot, make some with the seed and some without the seed, just make sure to mix the one with the seed very well". You will notice one will turn brown rather quickly and the other will take longer"!! Thanks for reading and rating!! I'll be sure to do the same!!
