Bake SOUTHERN GINGERBREAD

This recipes comes from the old deep south and is used to make traditional, old-fashioned southern gingerbread. You can use this recipe to make gingerbread cookies, gingerbread men, or gingerbread houses..or be creative! Remember...old fashioned recipes are always the best!

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 eggs, well beaten
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup sorghum, molasses, or corn syrup
  • 3/4 cup melted butter or buttermilk
  • 2 cups unsifted flour
  • 2 tsp. soda
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. ground cloves
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1-1/2 tsp. ginger
  • 1 tsp. allspice
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  1. Step 1

    Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Mix ingredients in the order given.

  2. Step 2

    Pour into a 9 x 12 greased pan.

  3. Step 3

    Bake until golden brown.
    Serves: 8-10.
