This is part 1 of a 3 part series: How To Make a Baby Laugh.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging

Things You’ll Need:

  • This list
  • Crying baby
  • Patience, and lots of it!

Step1
Making funny faces doesn't always make a baby laugh, does it?
Step2
After you've tried the funny faces, the jumping up and down, the baby toys, it's time to try some of the things on this list!
Step3
Tie two helium balloons to your ears on twelve-inch strings. Dangle two sticks of chewing gum from your upper lips as cartoon-style teeth.
Step4
Play two notes on a keyboard. Play the same two notes over and over and sing "Bab-y, Bab-y" to the beat.
Step5
On a summer day, let baby help with a water balloon toss. After the balloons have been filled with water and tied, begin tossing with another adult (or older child). Allow water to splash on baby.
Step6
Attach a suction cup toy to your forehead and dance around.
Step7
Fill a large laundry basket with your baby's stuffed animals. Let baby dump them out (make a loud *GASP* when this is done), and start all over again!
Step8
Stick your tongue out VERY slowly, as far as you can. Pull your tongue back just as slowly. Then repeat, only doing it as quickly as possible. Alternate back and forth between these methods.
Step9
Blow up a balloon. Stretch the end (mouthpiece) out to allow the air to screech out. This one is quite annoying, but if you do it right you will get a great reaction from baby!

Tips & Warnings

  • Be patient - there is probably a reason baby is crying.
  • Always make sure nothing is wrong with baby before you dismiss their cries.
