Have you ever been out walking in your yard barefoot or in thongs? Suddenly you feel that sharp sting, itch and burn of an ant bite. You see the little blister begin to form and you know that if you pop it, the itch and burn will not stop. So....what do you do?

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Fresh or dried Plantain leaves
  1. Step 1

You can get dried plantain leaves at your local herb store, but growing them is so much easier.

  2. Step 2

If you are using fresh leaves - make a "spit" poultice. Take 3-4 leaves and chew them up - remove them (spit and all) and apply to the bite. The burning and itching will stop almost immediately.

  3. Step 3

If you are using dried or powdered leaves - you can still make a "spit" poultice. Take about 1 tsp of dried/powdered herb and moisten with your "spit." Apply to bite.

Tips & Warnings
  • Yes, you can apply a poultice without chewing up the leaves first - but what fun would that be??? The fresh leaves, rubbed on the bite will offer relief. You can also pick the leaves and include them in your dinner salad - Yummy!
