How to Save Money on a Wedding Dress

Wedding gowns range from $99.00 to tens of thousands of dollars depending on the designer. These tips will help you find the gown you are looking for at a great price.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate
Step1
Shop trunk sales! Dying for a Priscilla of Boston or Angel Sanchez dress and just can't afford it? Believe it or not, they have annual trunk sales. Many other designers have trunk sales as well so be sure to check their websites for more information.
Step2
Shop department stores. You might be surprised what you see in the formal wear section. Nordstrom, Macy's and Bloomingdales typically have a great selection of white gowns and often send out coupons to their card holders for discounts as high as 20% off!
Step3
Ebay and Craigslist. There are many brides out there who bought two dresses because they just couldn't decide on one dress. (and lets not forget how many weddings get called off) Check these online sites for a wedding gown NWT.
Step4
Previously worn gowns. There are shops that specialize in previously worn designer gowns. You may purchase a dress at small fraction of what the dress cost new.

In New York City, be sure to see Michael's: The Consignment Shop for Women @ michaelsconsignment.com

Do a Google search for a consignment shop in your area!

on 6/20/2008 Thanks for the great ideas. The other option is rental places sell stocks of dresses for $100 or less when they rotate them out of stock and more then likely the dress only needs a little bit of work to make it that shiney $8000 designer again.
