The garment bag should hang evenly on the hanger. It should not only contain and protect the clothes inside, but should also be designed to display the clothing in a balanced and symmetrical fashion.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Finish all the various elements of the garment bag, from the tie at the bottom to the reinforced top. Pay special attention to the seams of the top of the garment bag as these will receive the most stress while garments are hanging.

  2. Step 2

Place clothes on the hanger. To test the garment bag's durability and overall functionality, the clothes should be of substantial weight, such as a suit or winter coat.

  3. Step 3

Open the bottom of the garment bag fully. The ribbons at the bottom should be untied in order to maximize the size of the opening.

  4. Step 4

Slide the garment bag down over the top of the hanger and onto the clothes. Make sure the clothing sits evenly on the hanger and is not bunched up or snagged.

  5. Step 5

Pull the hanger through the opening and smooth down the bag. The hanger should be gently tugged all the way through until the clothes touch the inside of the garment bag's top.

  6. Step 6

Hang the garment bag on a clothes rack or pole in the closet. The edges of the garment bag should hang evenly and the clothes should not protrude from the bottom of the garment bag.
