Do-it-yourself repair for your motorcycle can save you time, money and the hassle of taking your bike to a professional motorcycle mechanic. The carburetor is the key to most problems and houses the manifold, which needs to be replaced now and again. Once the manifold is replaced, you will need to re-install the carburetor.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Place the carburetor back into place and locate where you left the throttle and idle cables hanging. Fasten them back into place, including re-installing the spring that goes with the idle cable. Double check all of your work along the way to make sure everything is re-installed correctly.

  2. Step 2

Thread the choke cable back through and up the track and back into place. Make sure it fits back into the track well, so it will not come loose and hang out while riding. Double check the opposite end of the choke cable to make sure it is installed properly and did not come loose while removing the carburetor.

  3. Step 3

Reconnect the brake lines by placing the ends back into place and using a pair of needle nose pliers to seal the lines onto the carburetor. Double check and tighten the other ends of the brake lines to make sure they are connected properly.

  4. Step 4

Connect the vacuum line and push it into the seal. Make sure it is on the seal tighten or the vacuum line can't create suction. Once you have the carburetor back into place and reconnected to all the components it needs to be, start it up and give it a test before re-installing the cover plate and other finishing components.
