How to Make Walnut Butter Cookies

Things You'll Need
- Wooden spoon
- Large mixing bowl
- 2 cups flour
- 2 sticks butter, softened
- 1/2 cup confectioners sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp. water
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 3/4 cup chopped walnuts
- Plastic wrap
- Waxed baking sheet

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Use a wooden spoon to mix the flour, butter, confectioners sugar, vanilla, salt and water together in a large mixing bowl. Continue to blend until the mixture becomes thick and doughy. Add a little more flour if the dough is too sticky and difficult to handle. Stir in the walnuts.

Roll the dough into a long, thin rope about the size of a finger.

Divide the rope into two separate pieces and wrap each one in plastic wrap. Chill the ropes in the refrigerator for at least an hour.

Remove the cookie rolls from the refrigerator and remove the plastic wrap. Cut the logs into 3/4-inch slices.

Place the slices on a waxed baking sheet, leaving room for expansion between each one.

Bake the walnut butter cookies for 10 minutes, and then allow them to cool before sprinkling confectioners sugar over the tops.

Tips & Warnings
Make walnut butter cookies up to a week ahead of time. Just place the plastic-wrapped rolls in the refrigerator until you're ready to bake the cookies.
