If you use the right techniques, you can advertise on the Web without a large advertising budget. Internet advertising drives traffic to your site and gives you the opportunity to increase your profits. But, you have to evaluate opportunities and cost to find the best advertising deals.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Invest in pay-per-click ads. Companies like Google AdWords pair advertisers with related websites (see Resources below). With these programs, you only pay for traffic to your site via the advertisement. Using this type of system often results in advertisement for your business on a top-ranked website without the cost.

  2. Step 2

Reduce costs with small ads. Many Internet advertising companies charge by the size of the ad, just like magazines and newspapers. Start with the smallest ad available. If the site charges by word count, keep your message as simple as possible.

  3. Step 3

Form a co-op for advertising. Find another company interested in Internet advertising and split the ad. You may need a larger ad to include information for both companies, but when you divide the cost, you often spend less for more space.

  4. Step 4

Purchase backlinks to boost traffic and search engine rank. Web crawlers rank websites with backlinks, or links to your company from other sites higher in the search results. Some companies sell this type of link as a referral link.

  5. Step 5

Establish an affiliate program. With an affiliate program, you pay a commission to individuals or companies who list your ads on their websites. In essence, the affiliates become your external sales team.

Tips & Warnings
  • Always include the URL for your website in case a link gets broken; the user can always copy and paste the URL into the browser bar.
