Many parents want to buy more American-made toys to avoid the scary safety recalls that often happen with toys made overseas. Surprisingly, though, American-made toys can be difficult to find. Shop at local, smaller toy stores or specialty stores. These stores are more likely to carry toys made by local companies. Be prepared to spend more than you would for mass-produced toys.

Check your local Target, Kids-R-Us or FAO Schwartz for special departments that contain only American-made toys.
