1
Follow proper and healthy sleep habits. Getting enough sleep, waking up peacefully, having good nutrition and concentrating on telling yourself to remember your dreams upon waking all contribute to your dream health. Having good sleep patterns allows your body to relax and dream and increases the chance that you will remember the dream when you wake up.
-
2
Record your dreams when you wake up as the first step to analyze your dream. Keep a dream journal in a notebook or use a dictaphone or mini voice recorder to capture your dream when you wake up. Even if you prefer voice recording your dream, later transferring the dream to a journal helps you identify and interpret the central themes and symbols in the dream.

3
Look up common themes and symbols found in your dream. Identify common themes and concepts in a particular dream as well as a common thread in different dreams you experience. Then look up your symbols or themes in a dream book or on a dream web site like dreammoods.com. For example, animals often represent your traits and children mean happy, new things in your life.
-
4
Connect the symbols and themes from the dream to your life and experiences to completely interpret and analyze your dream. Think of how you interpret the characters, animals, objects, places, emotions, colors and numbers represent events or emotions in your life. Often your dreams are simply an extension of how you see yourself or your life.
-
5
Join an online dream community for support and additional help to analyze your dreams. Many of these sites allow you to keep online dream journals and to share your dream with others to gain another perspective and feedback about your dreams.
-
6
Practice analyzing your dreams continuously. The more you analyze your dreams, the more efficient you become because you are more familiar with the symbols and how they relate to you personally.
