Step 1
Consider whether you need swivel wheels, swivel wheels with a lock, or fixed front wheels. Swivel wheels are best for walkers and light joggers. Swivel wheels with a lock are good for all types of runners. Fixed front wheels are best for serious runners who focus on speed.
-
Step 2
Think about the size of the wheels when considering different strollers. Large wheels will make a smoother ride, while small wheels are usually more maneuverable. In addition, get a stroller with metal rims rather than plastic. They will last much longer.
-
Step 3
Look for a handlebar that is in line with your elbows when you are standing up straight. When you place your hands on the handlebar, your forearms should be parallel with the ground. If your hands are higher or lower than your elbows, you will strain your lower back.
-
Step 4
Choose a stroller that has hand braking, parking braking and tether braking. With such precious cargo inside, you don't ever want your stroller to roll away from you.
-
Step 5
Fold up the stroller to ensure that you can fit it in your vehicle easily. If you have a car with a small truck, this may be an issue. You should be able to remove all of the wheels without tools for more compact storage.
