Grilled cheese sandwiches are one of the great American comfort foods. The grilled cheese sandwich is simple to make and satisfying to eat. Different varieties of cheese and types of breads can be used to create variations on this delicious grilled cheese sandwich.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Eat a grilled cheese in the traditional fashion with a large chunk of cheddar cheese in the center and two pieces of white bread. Grill the bread thoroughly without burning and keeping the cheese from running out the sides.

  2. Step 2

Use some mozzarella cheese along with some pizza sauce on top of the sandwich once it is cooked. Slice the sandwich into four triangular slices, pizza style. This can be modified with some pepperoni or other toppings.

  3. Step 3

Make a thick cheese soup to accompany the grilled cheese. Slice the grilled cheese sandwich into strips and use those to dip into the cheese soup. This finger food is very popular over Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years.

  4. Step 4

Slide the grilled cheese sandwich onto a bed of French fries. Add a few slices of roast turkey, ham or other lunch meat. Use a fork to tear into the sandwich, spear some meat and a French fry. Variations are easy to create and can include salsa, ranch dressing and other favorite condiments.

  5. Step 5

Cook two hamburger patties and open the grilled cheese once it is cooked. Apply the two hamburgers to the two halves of the grilled cheese and re-assemble the sandwich. Add pickles, onions or condiments. This mega-double cheeseburger is sure to please even the biggest appetite.
