How to Deal With Annoying Colleagues

Having to deal with annoying colleagues is an unavoidable part of working. Almost every business has at least one person who is annoying. You should do your best to deal with that person's annoying ways in a mature way. Remember that how you deal with an annoying co-worker says a lot about you and your work ethic.

1. Talk to your colleague in a mature way. Make sure that your conversation is private. Embarrassing a colleague in front of other workers will probably cause more trouble. Tell your co worker in a non confrontational way, what she is doing that annoys you and ask her to stop the behavior. Sometimes, this is all that is needed to correct the situation.

2. Ignore your annoying colleague. This may be difficult but, a lot of times, a person who is annoying will stop if he thinks that you are unaffected by his antics.

3. Pray about the situation. You can ask God for guidance in handling the situation.

4. Stay calm. This is extremely important. An annoying colleague may be trying to upset you on purpose. By staying calm, you are staying a step ahead of her. Besides, if you like your job, you shouldn't let an annoying co worker jeopardize it.

5. Focus on your work. If your annoying colleague is working on a project with you, it may be best for you to suggest that you each focus on your own portion of the project so that you can minimize the amount of time you are with him.

6. Consult your supervisor if you are unable to handle the situation. This is a serious step that can have serious consequences. You should do this only when you feel it is absolutely necessary.
