Things You'll Need:

  • Whole cloves
  • Olive or vegetable oil
  • Essential oil of clove
  1. Step 1

Stop the pain in its tracks. You can find one of the fastest aids to ease your pain in the kitchen cabinet. For centuries, people have used cloves to lessen and eliminate pain from their aching teeth. Crush the cloves in a mortar and pestle, then add a small amount of oil to form a paste. Coat the paste onto a piece of cotton gauze. Place the gauze directly on the tooth and gum. Relief will begin shortly. Repeat this process until you can see your dentist.

  2. Step 2

Use oil of clove for even faster relief. This essential oil has the ability to stop the pain almost on contact. Do not put pure clove oil on the tooth because it can burn the skin. Dilute the clove oil with a small amount of olive oil or vegetable oil. Combine about 1 tbsp. oil with 8 to 10 drops of the essential oil in a small bottle. Place a cotton swab dipped in the mixture directly on the tooth and around the gum. Every time the pain begins to return, repeat this process.

  3. Step 3

Keep your teeth clean and brushed. The best remedy is prevention. Cavities and attack by bacteria are two of the most common causes of a toothache. Rinsing with mouthwash, flossing and brushing your teeth on a regular basis are the best safeguards against developing cavities and problems with your teeth.

Tips & Warnings
  • Remedies for toothaches are all only temporary. Use this only until you can see your dentist. Using this natural remedy is better for your body than the drugs prescribed for pain.
