Join the high roller's club. If the hotel you're considering in Las Vegas also has a casino on site, applying for membership to their casino programs will open the door to more upgrade opportunities.

Ask about upgrades when you make your reservations. This may not give you success in getting a free room upgrade, because hotels need to fill their rooms at the highest rates they can before offering special deals.

Check in a little early. If the hotel's check-in time is 3:00 p.m., arrive at 2:00 p.m. to check-in. Most guests check in at or later than the regular check-in time, so by arriving early you'll have a better chance in receiving a free room upgrade.
